The City of South Charleston retained E.L. Robinson Engineering (ELR) to develop trail routes through South Charleston such as; (1) connection of South Charleston to Charleston along MacCorkle Avenue (trail extension for the Kanawha Trestle Trail); (2) the Mound District; (3) Spring Hill area; (4) Riverwalk and the Recreation Center; (5) Little Creek Park and Golf Course; (6) to the RHL Boulevard (Shops at Trace Fork); (7) and other possible distinct neighborhoods. The plan determined suitable corridors, developed cost estimates, ranked them in order of preference for funding, generated typical cross sections, and identified street markings or signage for the basic types of trail/routes that are recommended.
