The Danese Waterline Extension Feasibility Study is currently being performed for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection - Abandoned Mine Lands Division. The feasibility study involves the investigation of past mining and its affect on groundwater resources in the area. If the study documents that mining, prior to the enactment of the Surface Mine Control and Reclamation Act (1977), has degraded the groundwater resources in the area, the Abandoned Mine Lands Fund will provide funding to construct a water distribution system to serve the estimated 1,100 residents of the area.
